How to log on Secured Data Sharing Protocol Website

 

This tutorial will tell you how to log on to the secure data area and download/upload documents.

1.  Go to data sharing protocol website: https://data.rgfl.org

2.  Enter your username in Domain\username field and password in password field and click Log On.

 

 

3.  If you are using this website for first time you will be asked to download .dll file which will appear in Information bar near to tool bar. Download this file, it is one off install and it will allow you to upload multiple documents if your browser allows this functionality.

4.  Depending on permission on area, you will find the desired area on next page which ends with NSSPxxx. Click on the name of area and it will show the folders inside the area.

 

 

5.  Uploading Document: Hover over the Upload link and click on drop down arrow next to Upload. Upload Document will appear after clicking drop down arrow and depending on internet browser you are using you might see Upload Multiple Documents. Click Upload Document.

 

6.  On next page, click on Browse and find the document you want to upload and Click Open on pop window. On the same page there is option to upload multiple files. Overwrite existing file option will overwrite the document with same name. Tick/Untick Overwrite existing files option depending on your requirement. Click OK.

 

 

 

7.  You will be redirected back to the page and document will be uploaded on the area.

 

 

8.  Uploading Multiple Documents: Follow Step 5 and select Upload Multiple Documents and on next page, tick all the documents you want to upload. Tick/Untick Overwrite existing files option depending on your requirement. Click OK.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

9.  Downloading Document: Right click on the name of the document you want to upload and click on Save Target As.

 

 

 

 

 

 

10. On Dialog box, select the folder/area on your machine where you want to save the document and Click Save.

Website Tutorial – How to Add New Folder in Document Library

This tutorial will show you how to add new folder in document library.

1. Go to document library of your website and make sure you are sign in.

2. Click on drop down arrow next to New And click on New Folder option to create new folder.

3. On next page, enter name for newly created folder. And click on OK button.

4. You will be redirected back to document library with newly created folder.

Advanced Tutorials – How to install Skype
This tutorial will tell you how to install Skype on your machine. This tutorial is based on Windows Operating system. Installation on other operating system will be different from this tutorial and installation files for different operating system are available to download from Skype website.

1. Go to Skype Official website
http://www.skype.com .
2. Hover over Get Skype on top navigation and select desired Operating System (In this tutorial we are using Windows). 
 

 


 
3. On the next page you will be given option to download latest Skype version. Click on Download Skype button.
 


 
4. On next page, information bar will appear on top of webpage.
 


 
5. Click on Information bar and select Download File option.
 


 
6. A dialog box will appear on screen, which will allow you to download Skype installation file. Click on Save button and choose your desired location on your machine.
 


 
7. After file has been downloaded to the machine. Click Run on dialog box.
 


 
8. On next screen, Click on I Agree – install if you want to install Skype with default option. If you like to change default option (i.e. location where you want to install Skype.) if you want to change the default settings click on Options.
 


 
9. After clicking I Agree – install, window will appear with progress bar.
 


 
10. Once Skype is installed on machine, open up Skype and click on Tools and then Connection Options. On next window select Connection on left navigation of next screen. Please make sure your skype settings resembles the settings shown in image below:
 
Note: Please make sure it is your own rgfl account details in username and password field.
 
 
 
11. Click Save after you have made changes. On Skype login window enter your Skype user name in Skype Name field and password in Password field and Click on Sign In.

Web Page Editing – How to embed an image in to a Page on Your Website

 

This tutorial will show you how to add an image to a webpage to make it

look more interesting to the end user. This may be a picture of your

school, or pictures of you staff members.

1. Go to your school website and ensure you sign in

2. First we need to upload the image to the site before we can add it

to a page. Click Site Actions and View All Site Content

3. Then click Images from the list of libraries.

4. Click the upload button

5. Click browse and locate the image on your computer and click ok.

6. Navigate to the page you want to add the image to.

7. Click Site Actions and Edit Page in the top right hand corner.

8. You will now be looking at your page in edit mode. Click the Edit

Content button.

9. left click the curser on the page where you want to put the image

and then click the image icon

10.On the pop up menu select browse

11. Then select Current site: images from the left hand side.

11. Select the image you uploaded earlier and click OK.

12. Give your image an Alternate text and click OK again.

13. You will now see your uploaded image on your web page

14. Click Publish at the top of the page to save your work.

RGfll Email - Connecting your RGfL email Address to Outlook

 

 

Before you begin please ensure you have Closed Outlook and any open emails

1.      Go to My computer and double click on F: drive

2.   Double click the outlook 2003 folder

3.   Double click the RGfL folder

Quick Link - F:\Outlook2003\RGFL

4.   Double click the file called setvariablesforrgflprf.vbs

 

 

5.   Enter your RGfL email address which in most cases will be in the format firstname.lastname@rgfl.org (the one that has automatically populated for you might be correct) and click ok

 

 

6.   Enter you RGfL mailbox name, again the one that has been entered you will might be correct. Your mailbox name is the same as your RGfL email address with rmbc372 added after the @ sign and before .rgfl.org. Click ok

 

 

7.   You will now see a menu like the one below. Click OK again.

 

 

8.   You will now see a message informing you to run the following file SetRGFL.prf

 

 

9.   From the same folder (F:\Outlook2003\RGFL) now run SetRGFL.prf

10.  You will then see the following message, click yes

 

 

 

11.   Outlook will then open and a username and password box will pop up, enter your live@edu password, select remember password so you don’t have to keep re entering it when you start up. Click ok.

 

 

12.   On the left hand side you will see a folder called firstname.lastname@rgfl.org from here you can access your inbox.

 

Note: If you find that some of your folders are not being displayed when you expand the new mailbox you may need to add them. To do this you will need to:

a.

Right click on the mailbox name (i.e. your name) and select the IMAP Folders option.

b.

On the displayed box press <Query>.

c.

All your available folders are then displayed and to add the folder so that is visible in outlook you click on the folder to highlight it and then press <subscribe> followed by <Apply> and then <OK>.

RGFL Mail - Connecting to a Nokia Symbian Device
This tutorial will show you how to set up your Nokia Symbian Device to receive RGfL emails.
 

Please note. Connecting your RGfL email account to your mobile device will allow for a complete remote factory reset of your device should it be required. I.e. Due to loss or theft. This may be initiated by systems administrators without your consent in case of emergency. A factory reset will completely wipe you devices of all files, applications, contacts and messages.

 

 

 

 

 

This Tutorial was carried out using a Nokia E71, Symbian version S60 V3 & V5. Configuration for other Nokia devices will be similar but may vary slightly in wording of the menus.

 

Before you start this tutorial you will need to ensure you have downloaded Exchange for mail Version 3 or above from the OVI store. Exchange for Mail versions 1 and 2 are not supported.

 

1. Start the e-mail setup wizard. You can find the wizard in the following way:

 

  • Select Set up e-mail if shown on your home screen.
  • Select Menu > Email (or Applications > Email) > New.
  • Select Messaging > Options > Settings > E-mail > Options > New mailbox.

When the setup wizard starts, select the following:

 

2. Select Start e-mail setup.

3. Select Start to begin entering the information for your email account.

4. Select Mail for Exchange from the list.

5. Create a new profile

6. Enter the following details under Connection Settings:

 

  • Exchange Server: outlook.com
  • Secure connection: SSL
  • Access Point: This must be the access point you use for connecting to the internet, likely to be something along the lines of WAP or Mobile web
  • Sync While Roaming: No
  • Use Default Port: Yes

 

7. Enter the following details under Credentials

  • Username: Enter your email address in the format MCSjbloggs@rmbc372.rgfl.org OR joe.bloggs@rmbc372.rgfl.org the only difference between you normal email address and this one comes after the @ symbol. Everything before the @ symbol remains the same.
  • Password: Enter your special one time use password which you will be provided, this is NOT your normal RGfL password.
  • Domain: leave blank.

 

8. Settings under Sync Schedule, Calendar, Contacts and tasks are optional and should be defined to your preference.

 

9. Enter the following details under Email Settings

The rest of the setting are optional and should be set up to meet your needs.

 

10. Select OK after you have read the information on the screen.

11. Now your RGfL email has been added to your device and it is ready for use.

RGFL Mail - Connecting to an Android Device

 

This tutorial will show you how to set up your Android Device to receive RGfL emails.

 

Please note. Connecting your RGfL email account to your mobile device will allow for a complete remote factory reset of your device should it be required. I.e. Due to loss or theft. This may be initiated by systems administrators without your consent in case of emergency. A factory reset will completely wipe you devices of all files, applications, contacts and messages.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This Tutorial was carried out using a HTC Desire Z, Android version 2.2. Configuration for other Android devices will be similar but may vary slightly in wording of the menus. This method has also been successfully carried out on a Samsung Galaxy S, and HTC Desire.

 

On some android devices it may be necessary to click Manual Setup to display all of the required configuration options.

 

1. Press Menu

2. Click Settings

3. Click Accounts and Sync

4. Click Add Account

5. Click Exchange Active Sync

6. Enter your email address in the format MCSjbloggs@rmbc372.rgfl.org OR joe.bloggs@rmbc372.rgfl.org the only difference between you normal email address and this one comes after the @ symbol. Everything before the @ symbol remains the same.

7. Enter your special one time use password which you will be provided, this is NOT your normal RGfL password.

8. Click Next (please note you may be prompted to accept some licence terms at this point, just click ok, this does not appear on every device)

9. Enter the following details in the fields: (please note some of this information may be pre-filled but please check this as it will probably need changing)

 

  • Email address: enter your normal email address (i.e. MCSjbloggs@rgfl.org OR joe.bloggs@rgfl.org)
  • Server Address: pod51007.outlook.com
  • Domain: rmbc372.rgfl.org
  • Username: Once again enter your email address in the format MCSjbloggs@rmbc372.rgfl.org OR joe.bloggs@rmbc372.rgfl.org remembering to include the rmbc372 after the @ symbol.
  • Password: Once again enter your special one time use password as in step 7
  • Ensure that any tick boxes relating to SSL and/or encryption are selected
  • Click Next
  • The next page will ask you what you want to sync. Select the tick boxes that you wish to sync.
  • Additionally it may ask you how often you wish to update, select the option that you wish to use and click Next
  • Click Finish Setup
  • Congratulations your Android device is now setup to use your RGfL email account. You can now access your mail through the Mail icon on the home screen. Or in the App Drawer.
  • Upon completion you may receive a notification that an update to your security settings is required. You must activate these settings to enable synchronisation to occur.

RGFL Mail - Connecting to an iPhone

 

This tutorial will show you how to set up your iPhone/ iPad to receive RGfL emails.

 

Please note. Connecting your RGfL email account to your mobile device will allow for a complete remote factory reset of your device should it be required. I.e. Due to loss or theft. This may be initiated by systems administrators without your consent in case of emergency. A factory reset will completely wipe you devices of all files, applications, contacts and messages.

 

 

 

 

This Tutorial was carried out using an iPhone 3GS iOS version 4.2.1(8C148a). Configuration for other iOS devices such as iPad, iPod touch should be the same as long as you are running the most up to date iOS software.

 

1. Click Settings

2. Click on Mail, contacts, calendars

3. Click Add Account

4. Click Microsoft Exchange

5. Fill in the following settings

 

  • email: your RGfL email address (i.e. MCSJbloggs@rgfl.org OR Joe.Bloggs@rgfl.org )
  • Domain: rmbc372.rgfl.org
  • Username: enter your username in the format MCSjbloggs@rmbc372.rgfl.org OR joe.bloggs@rmbc372.rgfl.org the only difference between your email address and your username comes after the @ symbol. Everything before the @ symbol remains the same.
  • Password: Enter your special live@edu password which you will be provided, this is NOT your normal RGfL password
  • Description: By default this reads Exchange but you can change this to whatever you want. For example School or RGfL

 

6. Hit next at the top of the page. (you will see a message at the top of the page that says verifying)

7. If prompted enter outlook.com into the Server field

8. Hit Next (You will see a message at the top of the page that says verifying)

9. If the setup has been successful you will be taken to another page asking you to choose the information you wish to synchronise. The choices are Mail, contacts and calendars. By default all are selected, choose which you want to synchronise and click Save

10. Congratulations your iPhone is now setup to use your RGfL email account. You can now access your mail through the Mail icon on the home screen.

Document - How to Delete Document

This tutorial will show you how to document.

 

1. Go to your schools website and ensure you sign in

2. Go to the Document Library of the document which needs deleting.

 

 

3. Hover over the name of document and click on drop down arrow at the end of document name and select Delete command.

 

 

4. After selecting Delete you will get confirmation window to confirm if you want to delete document. Click on OK to delete the document.

 

 

5. You will be redirected back to Document Library.

Document - How to Add Document

This tutorial will show you how to document.

 

1. Go to your schools website and ensure you sign in

2. Go to the Document Library where you want to upload document and click on drop down button next to Upload button.

 

 

3. You will see two options to download documents. If you want to upload one document, click on Upload Document.

 

 

 

4. On next page, click on Browse to find the document you want to upload.

 

 

 

 

5. Select the document you want to upload and click on Open button.

6. On the next screen, Click on OK button to save that document.

 

 

 

Note: if you leave Add as a new version to existing files option ticked and if there is any document already uploaded with same name as the document you to upload then system will replace existing document with newly uploaded document.

 

7. You will be redirected back to Document Library.

 

 

8. If you want to upload more than one document, go to Step 2 and select Upload Multiple Documents option.

 

 

9. On next page, Use left navigation to go to location where documents are saved on your PC and on right side of page tick across the names of files you want to upload and Click on OK.

 

 

Note: if you leave Add as a new version to existing files option ticked and if there is any document already uploaded with same name as the document you to upload then system will replace existing document with newly uploaded document.

 

10. After you click on OK, you will be asked to confirm if you want to upload those documents and Click on Yes.

 

 

 

11. After clicking on Yes, you will see progress window of uploading progress.

 

 

12. Once all documents have been uploaded, you will be redirected back to Document Library.
